Lung Scan
Detect Lung Disease Before Symptoms Present
Lung Cancer
Lung Radicals
Emphysema
Various Types of Infections
Our Lung Scans can detect lung cancers as well as various types of lung infections and lung diseases.
A Computed Tomography (CT) lung scan takes an extremely clear and accurate picture of the lungs and chest. One of the main benefits of these scans is the early detection of various lung cancers which can be completely asymptomatic for months or even years.
Lung Scans are highly recommended for patients that have a history of smoking and/or previous, ongoing exposure to toxins like those that are sometimes present in work environments or during military service. Additionally, any patient with a family history of lung disease is more likely to develop lung disease.
A board-certified Radiologist will review your lung scan and look for various signs of disease including nodules, inflammation (from sarcoidosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Wegener’s granulomatosis, or previous lung infections such as pneumonia or influenza), tumors, infections and lesions.
*Many does not mean all. There are some tumors in the abdomen and pelvis that cannot be seen with CT screening, but can be detected when intravenous contrast is used (we do not offer this service.) Other tumors are only seen on ultrasound or MRI.
